— About this trip
Saint-Tropez
& Port Grimaud
Saint-Tropez is two hours from Nice along the coast – which is precisely why most visitors from Nice never make it there independently. The train doesn't reach it. The buses are infrequent and slow. A private vehicle is essentially the only practical way to spend a day there and return comfortably.
The town has a reputation that precedes it – yachts, film stars, rose wine – but the reality is more layered than that. The old port, lined with fishing boats and café terraces, has been painted by Signac and photographed by millions since. The citadelle above the town offers views over the bay and a genuinely interesting naval museum. The market at Place des Lices runs Tuesday and Saturday mornings and is one of the best in Provence.
Port Grimaud, fifteen minutes from Saint-Tropez, is something entirely different: a planned village built in the 1960s on a lagoon, with canals instead of streets and boats moored at most front doors. It is sometimes called the Venice of Provence, and while the comparison is a stretch, it is a genuinely unusual and photogenic place.
Because of the distance, an early departure is strongly recommended. Summer traffic on the approach roads to Saint-Tropez – particularly in July and August – can add up to an hour to the journey each way on busy days.
Hotel Pickup
Your driver meets you in the lobby at the agreed time.
Port Grimaud
Walk the village lanes, view canals and colourful fishermen's houses. The viewing tower near the entrance offers views over the lagoon for a small charge.
Saint-Tropez – Old Port & Village
Walk around the old port, browse the village streets, and visit the market — open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings — for local produce, flowers, and regional specialities. The Citadelle above the town offers panoramic views over the gulf and houses a maritime museum. Explore boutiques ranging from local craft and artisan shops to international luxury brands along the main streets.
Pampelonne Beach Area
Visit the famous Pampelonne beach, stretching 5km of white sand along a sheltered bay. The famous beach clubs (Club 55, Nikki Beach, Tahiti) offer sun loungers, food, and drinks directly on the sand — reservations are strongly recommended in July and August and can be booked in advance online.
Hotel Drop-off
Your driver returns you to your hotel at the end of the day.
